Saturday I went to go see Ethan Hawke’s latest movie and afterwards he got an award. Little did I know RICHARD FUCKING LINKLATER was gonna be there! Altho I should have seen that coming; nothing can prepare you for the moment when you see one of your favorite directors in the flesh and he’s no longer on your television screen or laptop screen or portable dvd player screen. It’s fucking surreal. And the things he said is just *sigh* I dunno it’s great that 20 years later he’s still that guy. And what I mean by that is, he’s not some asshole Hollywood guy, he’s still the same Rick Linklater from 20 years ago when he made Slacker, living in Texas and nice as can be. Oh and Ethan Hawke my god he’s so…. there’s no other actor like him that comes to mind….. yanno that first scene in Before Sunset where Jesse Wallace is telling the interviewers about this idea for a story he has? How he sees his daughter jump up on the table and then the scene changes and he sixteen again and he sees his girlfriend jump up on the car and she’s dancing to the same song his daughter is dancing. That’s Ethan Hawke all the time! He’s just filled with so many great stories. This video is nothing compared to what we heard afterwards.
